SWIM TEAM LEADS MUSTANG IN ALL-STATE
KEENAN GARRETT
Edition:Friday, July 23, 2010

Only two years after diving into competition, Mustang High School's swimming program has made to next week's final All-State games with two swimmers still in the running.
Seniors Carli Wentworth and Aimee Creger will represent MHS in the All-State swim meet at 6 p.m. Monday at Bixby High School.
“To start out with there barely being a swim team, and now we have two Mustang people going to All-State — it's really neat to see,” Wentworth said.
Wentworth and Creger, who said she didn't begin swimming until her senior year, helped the team to ninth place out of 20 teams at the state championships in February. Creger claimed seventh place in the 50-yard freestyle race in 25.80, while Wentworth worked her way to 11th place with 26.35.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Creger had the eighth best time at 58.73. Seventh place of the 100-yard breaststroke went to Wentworth in 1:15.04. Both Broncos helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to seventh place with a time of 1:48.71, which was Mustang's best finish ever in a relay.
“I haven't been swimming every single day this summer or anything, so I'm just going to go have fun and enjoy my last meet,” said Wentworth, who is set to attend Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts.
Creger and Wentworth won't know the events they will compete in until the day of the event.
Upcoming Redlands Community College Cougar Karson Bizzell will be among the 6-A West girls All-State team Monday at Mohawk Park Golf Course in Tulsa. Bizzell was the only senior girls golfer last spring and helped drive the team to 10 straight tournament wins, a first in school history. She won her first Metro Conference championship in four years of varsity golf with a score of 75 her senior season.
Michelle Fisher earned a spot on the Large West team for the All-State basketball team at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oral Roberts University. The future Southwestern Oklahoma State University player started at guard in all 23 games last season and was Mustang's leading scorer with an average of 13 points a game.
Fisher's free throw percentage was the best of the team at almost 75 percent. A 31 three-point percentage her senior year was the second best of the squad, and her 39 percent in field goals was the third highest.
