KEENAN GARRETT
Edition:Friday, July 23, 2010

The Broncos summer tennis team advanced to the district tournament ranked third in the Oklahoma City area standings.
Regular season play of the US Tennis Association Junior Team Tennis league concluded July 14 when the Broncos beat Oklahoma City Tennis Center's team. Mustang beat OCTC 33-21 in total games won. The win gave the Broncos a regular season record of 5-2.
Ashlynn Sutton stomped Elizabeth Nguyen 4-2/4-2 at female singles. Sutton closed out area play with a 5-1 record in singles. She won each of her three doubles matches this season, one in womens and two in mixed doubles. Sutton's last doubles match was against OCTC with partner Coleman Hanna. They beat Jeff Wren and Maria Marcos 4-2/4-3.
Hanna lost his singles match 4-1/4-0 to Uladzimir Razryvin for the Mustang's only loss of the day. Hanna's singles record was also 5-1 on the season. He went 3-1 in male doubles and 1-1 in mixed doubles.
Blake Foster and Austin Liberton lobbed a 4-0/4-2 defeat to Jordan White and Avi Natha in male doubles. Natha was a member of the Mustang High School team last spring. Foster ended at 2-2 in male doubles and 0-2 in mixed. He played three singles matches and won two. Liberton's male doubles record was 4-2 and 3-0 in mixed doubles matches.
Tina Nguyen and Katelyn Rice made up the Broncos female doubles team. They beat Dalaney Flies and Kathrin Mashburn 4-0/4-2. Nguyen's season record was unblemished, winning all five of her matches in female doubles. Rice also had a perfect record in female doubles at 4-0. She lost her one singles match of the season and went 1-2 in mixed doubles.
Mustang lost its previous match against the second-ranked Kickingbird-A team on July 7 for its second loss of the season. The final game count was 31-17. Tina Nguyen and Haphuong Nguyen were the only victors for the Broncos with a shutout over Elizabeth Beckman and Hannah Hale.
Blake Foster lost 1-4/ 0-4 to Kickingbird's Jacob Santana at male singles, which was his only loss in three singles matches. Rice was shut out by Shelby Nicholson in female singles.
In male doubles, Foster and Hanna lost 3-4/0-4 to Charles Ruff and Kaden Catania. The mixed doubles team, Hanna and Rice, went into a third-set tiebreaker with Nicholson and Catania. Kickingbird won it 4-1/2-4/1-0.
The Broncos claimed the No. 3 spot with a game record of 216-137, winning 61 percent of games played. Next up for Mustang is the Oklahoma district tournament Tuesday, July 27 at LaFortune Tennis Center in Tulsa.
