YOUNG GRAPPLERS EXCEL AT STATE MEET
CLINT CRAWFORD
Edition:Thursday, February 11, 2010

Mustang's wrestling program has a host of young talent, including a trio of grapplers who won state titles.
Their ability was displayed Friday and Saturday at the Junior High State Meet held at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.
“Overall, I thought we wrestled real well,” head coach James Hansen said. “We have some kids that really showed some potential for our future as a program. We've got the potential to be one of the best teams in the state.”
Two finals matches came down to the wire. Jared Chance, in the heavyweight class, won his match via a 3-2 decision in the third overtime when his opponent gave up a technical point after shoving Chance out of bounds. The call was “fleeing the mat.”
Boo Lewallen
(84 pounds) won his finals match via a 5-4 decision after placing second last year at state as a sixth-grader.
“For him to beat the quality individual he beat says a lot about him as a wrestler and his character,” Hansen said.
Dustin Mason took first in the 161-pound class.
Nathan Taylor finished in fifth in the 200-pound class of the junior high division.
Dalton Duffield took second in the 76-pound class, while Baywin Hollingshead finish in fourth. Hayden Hansen (87) took third.
Wes Hardin took fourth in the 68-pound weight class, while Zach Marcheselli finished in the same position at 88 pounds.
